Dr. Soldevilla and his staff know that fear of surgery keeps many people in pain. They understand that you are experiencing anxiety and pain, and will do their very best to help alleviate both.

Dr. Soldevilla believes one of the best ways to do this is to give patients the information they need to make good decisions, and then giving them experienced, knowledgeable care that patients find reassuring.

Advanced Technology
Conservative Approach

Patients of Dr. Soldevilla can rest assured knowing they are receiving the innovative techniques available.  He works hard to stay current on leading-edge technology and is specially trained in the most advance procedures to manage and treat his patients’ spine and brain disorders.

He takes a conservative approach to treatment, meaning that before he recommends surgery, he will first explore nonsurgical treatment options and give them time to work. When surgery is indicated, Dr. Soldevilla will try to always use minimally invasive techniques wherever possible.

Non-Surgical Treatment Options

Although surgery is safe and effective for disorders of the cervical spine, in many cases, non-surgical treatment can often alleviate symptoms. These include:

  • Rest or lifestyle modification that allows you to avoid activities that worsen pain
  • Pain management with medications or injections to reduce inflammation and pain
  • Hot and/or cold therapy
  • Manual manipulation such as therapeutic massage
  • Physical therapy to help strengthen and stretch the neck muscles
  • Behavioral changes like healthier eating, regular exercise, and getting better sleep can help reduce stress and alleviate pain

If non-surgical treatments don’t work to reduce pain and other symptoms, then surgery may be recommended.

Minimally Invasive Procedures

In the past, having any type of neurosurgery meant an open procedure and a painful, lengthy recovery.  Dr. Soldevilla, however, uses minimally invasive techniques whenever possible to help you get back to living your life as quickly as possible.

Smaller incisions and advanced technology such as endoscopy and navigated surgery allow Dr. Soldevilla avoid the kind of tissue damage that can occur during open surgery. Minimally invasive procedures also have a number of different advantages over traditional surgery, including:

  • Less pain
  • Less tissue and muscle damage
  • Typically an outpatient procedure
  • Smaller incision
  • Faster return to activity
